Wednesday August 19th 2009 New Address I just moved, so here is my new address: 315 Ladera St. #3 Santa Barbara, CA 93101 -Scott 18 Comments | Comment
Sunday June 28th 2009 Summer in SB Well it's summer now in Santa Barbara, and that means more of pretty much the same weather as the rest of the year. It has been a little sunnier lately so I've been able to get some beach time in, which is nice.
So far the summer's been pretty good. I went to Japan at the end of May to see a couple friends and that was fun. Hopefully I'll get to go again soon to see one of my Japanese teachers who's going back to Japan soon cause he can't get enough college. And yeah so then since I'm losing a teacher, I'm currently searching for another one and have found that there are actually a decent amount of Japanese/English speakers in SB; apparently you just have to offer a job to get them to show themselves. And hopefully I'll meet some more Americans with an interest in Japanese at a conversation class I'm taking in a couple weeks through SBCC. Looks fun and the teacher is a nice old lady.
Work is going good. It's a little slow, but I'm still learning a lot of interesting things, and don't plan on changing jobs or anything any time soon. Besides, I think I'm getting too spoiled by my 5-minute commute to be able to handle anything further...
Well I need to go check out a house now as I'm trying to find somewhere cheaper to live. Later!

Monday March 16th 2009 Visitors ranging from Yuka to Jeffrey Well the past two weeks have just been wonderful. Yuka came all the way from Tokyo to visit me with some of the time she has left before starting college. It was the longest I've been with her not to mention closest, considering she stayed with me in my apartment. I have to say though that it was probably the best two weeks I've spent in Santa Barbara so far and already I miss her lots. Luckily Jeffrey is now here visiting on his spring break and he's keeping me busy working out so I can lose some of my fat belly. -Scott 3 Comments | Comment
Thursday January 22nd 2009 My Time at Motorola While going through my old documents I stumbled upon some stuff I wrote when I worked for Motorola a few summers ago. Enjoy!
Background info:
While Bridgette talks she twitches her head around which makes her stringy gray hair float all over. She also acts like she thinks she might be a motherly figure.
Jeremy is a geek archetype. Tries to makes concepts sound more complicated than they actually are to make himself seem smarter. Starts every answer to a question with either “OK so” or just “So.”
Ben is one of those big teddy bear guys. Likes to laugh and have fun.
Matt is a 40-year-old virgin, except he’s probably only 30 and has 2 kids. He is the most pragmatic, but gets irritated fast and pointlessly.
Jonathan is a lazy college student who happens to like computers quite a bit. He is a serious gamer and has accumulated a solid month’s worth of game-playing over 2 years.
Dialogue
Jeremy: Is Matt here yet?
Bridgette: No Jeremy I haven’t seen him.
Jeremy: Hmm usually he’s here by now.
Bridgette: Yeah he usually gets here around 8.
Jeremy: Well let’s wait 15 minutes and then we’ll go cause I’ve got some stuff to do quick anyway.
Bridgette: OK Jeremy, he should be here by then he’s usually here around 8.
Jeremy: Caf?
Ben: No thanks I’m kinda busy on somethin’.
Jeremy: OK.
Ben: Maybe I’ll catch up with you later though.
Jeremy: You ready Bridgette?
Bridgette: Yeah sure Jeremy. What isn’t Matt here yet?
Jeremy: No he stayed in Kansas for another day.
Bridgette: Oh is he on vacation?
Jeremy: No it’s just another day; he flew out there Friday.
Bridgette: You know Scott, you should get around and take it easy more. This isn’t school, it’s the summer, you know, it’s work, you can take it easy.
Scott: Yeah.
Jonathan: Oh I can’t wait to get back to school. School’s easy. Got class from 12-3, do some homework, then get the rest of the day off.
Bridgette: Oh yeah school’s easy compared to this place.
Bridgette: So when’s your last day Scott?
Scott: Friday.
Bridgette: Oh well so what do you think of this place now?
Scott: Um well I got to learn stuff, stuff that I learned, I learned stuff here that I’ve been wanting to for a while but couldn’t make myself do it.
Bridgette: Yeah this place’ll do that to you. So where do you go to school again?
Scott: Rose-Hulman.
Bridgette: And what state is that in?
Scott: It’s in Terre Haute Indiana.
Bridgette: Oh yeah I’ve been through Terre Haute. I actually lived in Indiana in, well, all over, we liked to move a lot. We were at blah blah blah.
Scott: Yeah.
Matt: It just doesn’t make any sense that he kept attacking me (forced giggle) when I was only a level one effective.
Bridgette: Well you had that one curse you could’ve used.
Matt: No that wasn’t mine, I couldn’t use it on him. He had no reason to attack me.
Jeremy: I’ve made Matt walk out of the room twice while playing that game.
Scott: Jeese.
Jeremy: Yeah, uh…I get him pretty mad.
Scott: I always hear him talking about ‘I don’t get why he attacks me’ crying about it, I’m like well duh it’s just a game, you make it fun by getting so upset about it.
Bridgette: God damnit you fucking cocksucker why the fuck won’t you work fucking asshole. How the fuck could that do that? FUCK! Goddamn thing.
Bridgette: Oh duh that’s the problem fucking obvious. Come on Bridgette you know better than this.
Bridgette: Matt’s got Scott so scared he hasn’t even come out of his cube.
Jeremy: OK so when you put the dot dot it means you go to the directory above the current directory, and when you just put dot it uses the current directory.
Scott: Yeah but I don’t use those anyway so that difference doesn’t really matter.
Scott: That one doesn’t matter.
Matt: Hold on what was that one?
Scott: It was just I changed this path to dot and dot dot but it doesn’t matter.
Jeremy: So, the dot and dot dot change the directory to the current and the level above the current.
Scott: Yeah but I don’t use those variables so it doesn’t matter what they’re set to.
Jeremy: I’m confused about these section field elements under type and also under packet but some have all these attributes and some don’t have descriptions I don’t understand it.
Scott: The ones in type format are meant to describe the type as a whole, and the ones in each packet apply to the packet only. It follows the ICD (document specifying exactly what I should do).
Bridgette: You’re awfully quiet for a software engineer.
Matt: Now I’m starting to sound like one of those old guys. (really bad old person impression, loudly) Oh when you get to be my age you’ve got the mortgage to worry about and savor your youth cause when you get old you pay taxes and bills.

The idea is so utopian, so heavenly, that I can hardly believe that there are people in the world who actually live that way. ,

It is pivotal to change your physician about any allergies you may have and also your medical history, before getting your Lipitor prescription. The drug Lipitor also has a bioequivalent generic which is identical to the brand in strength as well as safety and is sold at a slightly lower cost.

It is important to remember that you must never double dose. If you miss a dose, don't go back to it, but continue following your schedule and take the next dose.
